Joe Paul Gerardi, entrepreneurAnswered May 21 2012I feel that it was the signers' way of expressing fearlessness in a romanticist type of way.  So I would agree with Stephanie that it was a way of expressing themselves.  In doing so, the founding fathers expressed their love for their dream of what America could become.  It was their way of saying, "We're going at this together,and we do not care who is against us." In building this initial trust they were able to most successfully accomplish their objective. I see a great deal in common between how the declaration took off and in successful modern internet start-ups, as successful technology is invented and evangelized.  The founding fathers built positive momentum and trust within themselves, when each signed his name, and also in each other.
