Coma may be defined as the deep state of the prolonged unconsciousness in which the person is not able to awake and cannot respond to the stimuli. The individual cannot perform the voluntary actions of the body.
The coma is generally caused by the trauma of the cerebral or the brain stem. The excessive blood loss, lack of oxygen in brain and drug poisoning may also cause the state of coma.
