\frac{n}{5} - \frac{9n}{10} = \frac{1}{5}

\frac{n}{5}* \frac{2}{2}- \frac{9n}{10} = \frac{1}{5}

\frac{2n}{10}- \frac{9n}{10} = \frac{1}{5}

\frac{-7n}{10} = \frac{1}{5}       (multiply each side by 10)

-7n = 1/5 * 10

-7n = 10/5

-7n = 2          (divide eaach side by -7)

n = 2/-7

n =- \frac{2}{7} \ \textless \ -answer  (or about -0.286)

Josh made 8 3/4 cups of jello. if he serves it in 1/2 cup servings, how many people can he serve?
juin [17]

Answer: 17 people

Step-by-step explanation:

You divide 8 3/4 and 1/2 and you get 17 1/2

And since the question asks how many people can he serve you use the whole number because its not fair if you give a full serving to a person and half a serving to another.

QRST is a parallelogram. Find x and y.
Wewaii [24]

In parallelograms, opposite sides are congruent, meaning that they are the same lengths. So, we have:

y - 4x = 9

-x + 4 = y

Add x to both sides of the second equation:

y + x = 4

y - 4x = 9

This is a system of linear equations. Solve by eliminating the y and subtracting the two equations:

5x = -5

x = -1

Use x to solve for y:

y + (-1) = 4

y = 5

So, x = -1 and y = 5.

Parallel lines always have the same slope.  In fact that is the definition of parallel lines :P  (Technically they have the same slope and different y-intercepts, because parallel lines can never intersect...)
