When you only want to make a fraction of a recipe, say like 1/2, you multiply that fraction by every measurement of an ingredient.

So, if a recipe calls for 2 cups of flour, you multiply the measurement of that ingredient by the fraction. In our case 1/2.

2 * 1/2 = 2/2 = 1

Now we need to only put 1 cup of flour.

Same difference with the question above. Raheim only wants 3/4 of the recipe. So, we multiply 3/4 by the measurement of every ingredient.

One of the ingredients is butter. In the original recipe, it is 2/3 of a cup.

Now we multiply 2/3 by 3/4.

2/3 * 3/4 = 6/12

Simplify the fraction.

6/12 = 1/2

So, Raheim should use 1/2 of a cup of butter.

balandron [24]

Hi!

So, it looks like you're doing ratios.

Let's look at 9). If the model car is 4 inches long, and 1 inch equals 4 feet, than the actual car is 16 feet long. We know this because 4x4=16.

11) is also just as simple. If 1 cm is 11 km, and the two cities are 99 km apart, then on the map they are 9 cm apart. 11x9 is 99.

13) This is a 1:2 ratio. Basically, the flagpole's shadow is half of its height. You half the man's height to get a 3 foot shadow.

And, finally, 15)- if the model is 4 inches to the real life train's 3 feet, the actual train is 120 ft long, given that the model is 40 in long. 40x3=120.

I hope this helps! :)

Decide whether the relation is a function:<br> {(-3, 7), (1, -8), (6, -6), (7-8), (12, 2)}
lakkis [162]

Answer:

It is a function

Step-by-step explanation:

A function is of the form:

\left[\begin{array}{c}x_1&x_2&x_3\\-&-&-\\x_n\end{array}\right]            \left[\begin{array}{c}y_1&y_2&y_3\\-&-&-\\y_n\end{array}\right]

Where each of the x values must be distinct.

The x values are referred to as domain while the y values are called range.

Having said that, the given data can be represented as follows:

\left[\begin{array}{c}-3&1&6\\7&12\end{array}\right] ----------- \left[\begin{array}{c}7&-8&-6\\-8&2\end{array}\right]

<em>From the representation above, none of the x values are repeated.</em>

<em>Hence, it is a function</em>

Practice working with reflections.
Alinara [238K]

Answer: The rule of the reflection is rx-axis(x, y) → (x, –y) ⇒ 3rd answer

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us revise the reflection on the axes

If point (x , y) reflected across the x-axis , then its image is (x , -y) , the rule of reflection is rx-axis (x , y) → (x , -y)

If point (x , y) reflected across the y-axis , then its image is (-x , y) , the rule of reflection is ry-axis (x , y) → (-x , y)

In Δ LMN

∵ L = (-4 , 2)

∵ M = (-5 , 4)

∵ N = (-2 , 3)

In ΔL'M'N'

∵ L' = (-4 , -2)

∵ M' = (-5 , -4)

∵ N' = (-2 , -3)

The signs of y-coordinates of the vertices of Δ LMN are changed, that means Δ LMN are reflected across the x-axis

∵ The y-coordinate of L is 2 and the y-coordinate of L' is -2

∵ The y-coordinate of M is 4 and the y-coordinate of M' is -4

∵ The y-coordinate of N is 3 and the y-coordinate of N' is -3

∴ Δ LMN is reflected across the x-axis

∴ The image of point (x , y) is (x , -y)

Calculate the slant height for the given cone.Round to the nearest tenth. Diameter =8cm
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer:

1) The slant height = 9.8 cm ⇒ (C)

2) The slant height = 11.4 cm ⇒ (D)

Step-by-step explanation:

1) ∵ The slant height of the cone = √[(radius)² + (height)²]

∵ Diameter = 8 cm

∴ Radius = 4 cm

∵ Height = 9 cm

∴ Slant height = √(4² + 9²) = √97 = 9.8 cm ⇒ (C)

2) ∵ The slant height of the cone = √[(radius)² + (height)²]

∵ Diameter = 18 cm

∴ Radius = 9 cm

∵ Height = 7 cm

∴ Slant height = √(9² + 7²) = √130 = 11.4 cm ⇒ (D)
