m ∠ DAB = 85 − 2x m ∠ ABC = 90 + x m ∠ BCD = 80 − 3x m ∠ CDA = 105 + 4x Quadrilateral ABCD is a parallelogram if pairs of consec

Two angles are supplementary if they add up to 180 degrees.
 We have then:
 m ∠ DAB + m ∠ ABC = 180
 Substituting:
 (85 - 2x) + (90 + x) = 180
 From here, we clear the value of x:
 -x + 175 = 180
 x = 175 - 180
 x = - 5
 Let's try now that it is a parallelogram.
 The opposite angles of a parallelogram are equal in measure:
 m ∠ DAB = m ∠ BCD
 85 - 2x = 80 - 3x
 85 - 2 (-5) = 80 - 3 (-5)
 85 + 10 = 80 +15
 95 = 95
 Answer:

x = -5

m ∠ DAB = m ∠ BCD (It is shown to be a parallelogram)

3 gallons of batter are poured equally into 4 bowls. How many gallons of batter are in each bowl?
Usimov [2.4K]

Answer:

0.75 gallon

Step-by-step explanation:

3 gallons of batter are poured equally into 4 bowls.

We have to calculate the amount of batter in each bowl.

so we have to divide 3 gallons by 4 to get the answer.

Total amount of batter = 3 gallons

divided into number of bowls = 4

The amount in each bowl =  \frac{3}{4}  gallons

                                          = 0.75 gallons

0.75 gallon of batter are in each bowl.

A water balloon is dropped from a height of 16 feet. The function h=-16x^2+16 gives the height h of the balloon after x seconds.
Lerok [7]

Answer:

The ballon will hit the ground after 1 s.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this case we want to solve for x, but were given a equation to the height of the ballon, we can organize it in a way that isolates x on the left side of the equation so it can be used to what we want. So we have:

h = -16x^2 +16

h + 16x^2 = 16

16x^2 = 16 - h

x^2 = (16 - h)/16

x = sqrt(16 - h)/sqrt(16) = sqrt(16 - h)/4

When the ballon hits the ground it's height is 0 feet, so we substitute that on our equation and we'll have the right answer.

x = sqrt(16 - 0)/4 = sqrt(16)/4 = 4/4 = 1 s
