Maximum Area = 100 m^2

In dealing with maxima and minima, we have to be familiar of the commonly used properties. In this case, if asked about the maximum area of rectangle given with the perimeter, the shape to be considered should be a square. A square is also a king of rectangle.

Perimeter = 40 m
Measure of each side of the square = 40/4
                                                          = 10m
Area of the square (maximum area of a rectangle) = 10*10
                                                                                 = 100 m^2

myrzilka [38]

Answer:

44.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the mean of 14, 16, 16, 13, 23, x is 21, then we have 14 + 16 + 16 + 13 + 23 + x is equal to 126. Summing we have 14 + 16 + 16 + 13 + 23 = 82. 82 + x is equal to 126. X = 44.

Can someone help me with this
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

  b, e

Step-by-step explanation:

a, b) ordinarily, we claim the variable on the vertical axis is a function of the variable on the horizontal axis. By that claim, <em>temperature is a function of time</em>.

If the graph passed the horizontal line test (a horizontal line intersects in one place), then we could also say time is a function of temperature. The graph does not pass that test, so we cannot make that claim.

c) The graph has negative slope between 4:00 and 5:00. Temperature is decreasing in that interval, not increasing.

d) The graph has two intervals in which it is horizontal: 5:00-9:00 and 11:00-12:00. In those intervals it is neither increasing nor decreasing.

e) The graph shows a minimum in the interval 11:00-12:00. <em>The lowest temperature first occurs at 11:00</em>.

What is the solution to the system of equations 2x-y=7 and y=2x+3
Yuri [45]
Make y the subject in both equations

2x-y=7

-y=-2x+7

y=2x-7

For the second equation

y=2x+3

The two equations are parallel because they have the same gradient or slope but different y intercepts.

This type of equations have no solution because they will never intersect.

NO SOLUTION

The correct answer is C

Small squares with sides 4 cm were cut from each of the corners of a square piece of cardboard. then it was folded into an open-
DENIUS [597]
Suppose the length of the card board was x cm by x cm
After squares of 4cm was cut from the corner, the dimension for the box will be:
length=(x-8) cm
width=(x-8) cm
height=4 cm
thus the volume will be:
V=length*width*height
V=4×(x-8)×(x-8)=144
x²-16x+64=36
this can be simplified to form a quadratic equation given by:
x²-16x+28=0
solving the quadratic equation we get:
x=2 or x=14
Thus we conclude that the original dimensions was:
length=14 cm ; width=14 cm
