Answers:

3) Where would muscle A in the image set most likely be found?

The correct answer is: <u>Lining of the intestines</u>.

The muscle cells described in Image A (elongated muscle cells with tapered ends and a single nucleus per cell) correspond to the description of smooth muscle. <u>Smooth muscle is found in the walls of hollow organs</u> and is responsible for the contraction of these tissues. This contraction is involuntary.

4) Not eating the proper amount of food reduces the availability of ATP in muscle tissue. This will prevent which of the following muscle components from performing its function?

The correct answer is: <u>Myosin</u>.

<u>Myosin is the one protein that relies completely on ATP</u>. If there is no ATP available, myosin can't perform its function and skeletal muscle contraction becomes impossible.

Which is a symptom that is common in people with sickle cell disease?
Pani-rosa [81]

Explanation: Frequent infections

People with sickle cell disease, the red blood cells become malformed turning sickle shaped. The bone marrow tries to make more red blood cells, to make up for the loss but can’t keep up causing, anemia. The new shape keeps them from moving properly through the body, as a result they, can jam up and stick to the walls of the blood vessels. These clumps cut of oxygen to healthy tissues, delaying a child’s normal growth and causing fatigue. Some symptoms include pale skin, headache, chest pain, shortness of breath and are most likely to catch infections.
