Answer:

Explanation:

Food safety is a necessary practice to prevent the contamination of raw food materials and also to prevent the cross contamination of the food being cooked or in cooked food. The food-borne diseases may result due to negligence in food safety and contamination control.

One should wash hands after cutting carrots and before cutting tomatoes as after cutting carrot the juice and fibres may be retained in hands which can make the hands dirty. One must also wash hands before cutting tomatoes so as to avoid contamination in the cut tomatoes used for consumption.

Further explanation:

The following are the guidelines which are required to be followed to ensure food safety.

1. Wash the food materials thoroughly with water: All the raw materials for food such as meat, vegetables and fruits must be washed so as to remove the microbes, dust and dirt over it.

2. Ensure personal hygiene: One must wash hands thoroughly before cooking the food and must also ensure that the workstation is clean.

3. Cooked food must be kept away from raw food: Raw vegetables, meat and fruits must be kept away from the cooked food so as to prevent the contamination.

4. Use refrigerator: Food must be kept in refrigeration as it facilitates the slow down or delay of growth of microbes hence prevent the food from becoming rancid and also retains it’s taste.

5. Use clean and potable water for cooking: A potable water should be used to clean or wash the raw materials for cooking and also must be used as an ingredient in cooking.

6. Ensure cleanliness of equipment and utensils: Ensure the cleanliness of equipment and utensils to prevent contamination of food.

7. Keep the food items covered: The cooked food should be covered with a cover to protect the entry of dust particles, microbes and insects. Also the green leafy vegetables must be wrapped in paper to prevent moisture and interaction with air in refrigerator.

Answer:

This indicates that the expression of genes depends partly on environment.

Explanation:

The case shown in the question is showing a situation where there was a genetic interaction with the environment, resulting that gene expression depends in part on the environment.

Gene and environmental interactions are revealed by penetrance and expressiveness. Penetrance is the percentage of individuals with a given gene that have a phenotype linked to this gene, such as children and parents who have the same height. In cases of penetrance, a genotype may not express the expected phenotype due to gene influences and environmental effects, as happened to the couples' children shown in the question.
