Answer:

$8,120

Explanation:

<em>To calculate the proceeds, the gross proceed  less the discount charged by the bank. The gross proceed is the total amount that would have been received should the note is held to maturity.</em>

Gross proceed= P + (P×R×T)

P- 8,000 R- 6%, T- 10/12

Gross proceed = (8,000 + 8,000× 6%× 10/12)

                         = $8,400

Discount charges = Gross proceed × discount rate × time to maturity

Time to maturity = 10 - 5 = 5 months

Discount rate - 8%, Time- 5/12

Discount charges =  8400× 5/12× 8% = $280

Proceeds to be received = $8,400 - $280

                 = $8,120

In competitive markets, a surplus or shortage will select one:
Andrej [43]

Answer: c.

In a  competitive market, there are many producers competing to provide consumers the products they needed and thus they cannot dictate prices.

If a surplus occurs, there is an excess of quantity supplied and since producers won't be able to sell all their products, they tend or are forced to lower their price.

The reverse happens when there is a shortage. When there is less supply in the market, price increases.

Surplus and shortage in a competitive market, therefore, will cause shifts in the demand and supply curves that tend to eliminate the surplus or shortage.

A corporation is considering expanding operations to meet growing demand. With the capital expansion, the current accounts are e
andre [41]

Answer:

B) a decrease of $40,000

Explanation:

As we Know Working capital is the the net or current assets and current liabilities.

Increase in Current Assets

Cash                              $20,000

Accounts receivable    $40,000

Inventories                   <u>$60,000</u>

Total Increase in CA   $120,000

Increase in Current Liabilities

Accounts payable       $50,000

Accruals                       $10,000

Long-term debt           <u>$100,000</u>

Total Increase in CA   $160,000

Increase in Working Capital =  Increase in Current Assets - Increase in Current Liabilities

Change in Working Capital = $120,000 - $160,000 = -$40,000

As current Liabilities increased more than the current assets, so the working capital will decrease by $40,000

Marwick Corporation issues 15%, 5 year bonds with a par value of $1,070,000 and semiannual interest payments. On the issue date,
Over [174]

Answer:

The bond's issue (selling) price = $1,146,890.2

Explanation:

The selling price of the bond is equivalent to the present value of all the cash flows that are likely to accrue to an investor once the bond is bought. These cash-flows are the periodic coupon payments that are paid semi anually and the par value of the bond that will be paid at the end of the 10 years.

During the 5 years, there are 10 equal periodic coupon payments that will be made. In each  year, the total coupon paid will be $1,070,000*0.15=$160,500 and this payment will be split into two equal payments equal to  \frac{160,500}{2}=$80,250. this stream of cashflows is an ordinary annuity

The periodic annual market rate is equal to \frac{0.13}{2}=0.065

The  PV of the cashflows = PV of the coupon payments + PV of the par value of the bond

=$80,250*PV Annuity Factor for 10 years at 6.5% + \$1,070,000*\frac{1}{(1+0.065)^10}

=$80,250*7.1888+$1,070,000*0.5327 = $1,146,890.2

Refer to Exhibit 3-9. Consumers view X and Y as substitutes. If the price of Y increases as a result of a decrease in the supply
Sever21 [200]

Answer:

Increase in Demand , Increase in Equilibrium Price & Equilibrium Quantity

Explanation:

Demand i.e buyers ability & willingness to buy, has a factor affecting : 'Price of Other Goods - Substitute Goods', which can be inter changeably used. Substitute goods' price & quantity are directly related because- rise in price of a good makes other good relatively cheaper & increases latter's demand and vice versa.

Similarly, If X & Y are substitutes - Increase in price of Y makes it relatively expensive, reduces its demand & increases X demand by making it  relatively cheaper (shifts demand curve rightwards).

Increase in X demand  & rightward shift in demand curve creates Excess Demand, causing competition among buyers & increasing EquilIbrium Price & equilibrium quantity at new equilibrium.
