True or False? Many of the early steps in the reproductive process can be carried out in the laboratory through procedures such
Andre45 [30]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

In vitro fertilization refers to the laboratory techniques by which a woman's egg is fertilized by injecting a man's sperm in order to develop an embryo outside the body. Subsequently, this embryo can be then implanted into the female uterus to continue with its development. Nowadays, it is possible to decide the stage of development in which the fetus (developed from an embryo) is transferred to the uterus. This situation raises ethical, moral and legal concerns about when a fetus can be regarded as a human being.

What is the difference between prophase and prometaphase?
maxonik [38]
Each phase has its own steps and is integral to the entire process.prometeaphase is the phase of mitosis following prophase and preceding metaphase, in eukaryotic somatic cells. In prometaphase, the nuclear membrane breaks apart into numerous "membrane vesicles", and the chromosomes inside form protein structures called kinetochores.

If an enzyme's active site contains only two ionizable residues, an arginine and a glutamate (pKa's of 2.9 and 9.1, respectively
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

Optimum pH= 6

Optimum pH for the given enzyme would be the average of pKa values of two amino acids (2.9 + 9.1 /2= 6)

Explanation:

The pKa represents the association constant of amino acids. It is calculated by taking the negative log value of the ratio of a dissociated acid and the conjugated base which in turn regulates the isoelectric point (pI) of the protein.

The amino acids present in the active site of the enzyme regulate the interaction of enzyme and substrate. The given enzyme contains two ionizable amino acids with pKa values of 2.9 and 9.1 respectively. Therefore, the optimum pH of the given enzyme would be 2.9 + 9.1 / 2 = 12/2 = 6.

At pH 6, both the ionizable amino acids would serve as a good buffer with their active proton donor and proton acceptor species.
