Imagine cutting out the tilted side of the cylinder such that the cylinder becomes vertical on that side, then sticking the piece that you previously cut out to the opposite side. This will form a vertical cylinder exactly.

Formula for volume of cylinder:
Base area × Height
= Area of circle × Height
= pie × radius^2 × Height
{Radius of circle, as indicated in the question, is 4, and height is 6}
= pie × (4)^2 × 6
= pie × 16 × 6
= pie × 96
= 96pie units^3 {Again, this question does not have units written down for each number, so write down the word "units" instead, and with a power of 3 since this is a volume.}

Hope this helps!

Find the angle between 0° and 360° that is coterminal with a 443° angle.
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

If you rotate an angle 360 degrees around, your final angle will be facing the same direction

Thus, the coterminal angle is 443^\circ-360^\circ=83^\circ

Determine the standard form of the equation of the line that passes through ( -5,0 ) ( 0 ,-9)
insens350 [35]

The general form for a line through two points (a,b) and (c,d) is

(c-a)(y-b)=(d-b)(x-a)

This is better than the slope forms because it works in the no slope case, as does the standard form.

If you haven't seen it before, it works because when (x,y)=(a,b) we get (c-a)(b-b)=(d-b)(a-a), both sides zero, and when (x,y)=(c,d) we get (c-a)(d-b)=(d-b)(c-a), clearly equal sides.

Here we have

(0 - -5)(y - 0) = (-9 - 0)(x - - 5)

5y = -9(x+5)

5y = -9x - 45

9x + 5y = -45

Ironically there are two standards for standard form; one with the constant alone on the right and one with the whole thing equal to zero.  I like the constant alone.

Answer: 9x + 5y = -45

Check:

We check each point is on the line

(-5,0)

9(-5) + 5(0) = -45, good

(0, -9)

9(0) + 5(-9) = -45, good again

11. Write the equation in slope intercept form that has a slope of -23 and passes through the point (-1, 2).
insens350 [35]
11. y = -23x - 21

You can get this by starting with y = mx + b (slope intercept form). Then put in all the knowns and solve for the b.

2 = -23(-1) + b
2 = 23 + b
-21 = b

Then add that to the end of the equation with m = -23

12. -5

The y-intercept of an equation is always the number added on at the end of an equation. It is also the number with no x attached to it.

13. 8x^9y^6

When you use the law of exponents, you need to make sure the exponent goes to each individual term. When we cube the 2, it becomes 8. When you cube x^3, you get x^3*x^3*x^3 or x^9. And with y^2 you get y^6
