The living things, on the basis of the name, are active and lively. They are composed of cells, and possess the features of life, like movement, growth, response to stimuli, reproduction, they possess the tendency to evolve, and need energy for their daily routines. Some of the usual examples of living things are animals, human beings, plants, and microorganisms.  

On the other hand, the non-living things do not possess any features of life. They do not respire, grow, require energy, reproduce, move, maintain homeostasis, or evolve. These substances are made up of non-living components. Some of the examples are electronic goods, paper, stones, automobiles, and others.
