As is true with most early civilizations, the early peoples of North America were able to build complex cultures due to the abundance and ability to undertake large-scale agriculture. Peoples such as the Olmecs, Aztecs, and Mayans in Mesoamerica were situated in areas with favorable climates enabling food production, which, in turn, allows for population growth, specialization, large-scale construction, and state formation!

It is a true statement that the three-fifths compromise lasted until the fourteenth amendment declared that everyone would be counted as a whole person.

It was the compromise agreement between delegates from the North and South at the Constitutional Convention (1787) that the three-fifths of the slave population would be counted for determining direct taxation and representation in the House of Representatives.
