(4, ?) is on 8x - 3y = -10

The ? is the missing y coordinate.  (4, y) satisfies 8x - 3y = -10

8x - 3y = -10.      From point (4, y),  we would replace x = 4 in the equation below. y remains the unknown.

8*4 - 3y = -10

32 - 3y = -10

-3y = -10 - 32

-3y = - 42

y = -42/-3

y = 14

<span>We need to plug 4 in place of x into the equation of the line and find the y-value.

8x - 3y = -10
8(4) - 3y = -10
32 - 3y = -10

Add 3y on both sides.

32 = -10 + 3y

Add 10 on both sides.

42 = 3y

Divide 3 on both sides.

y = 14

The point is (4, 14).</span>

John and Martha are contemplating having children, but John’s brother has galactosemia (an autosomal recessive disease) and Mart
Rina8888 [55]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

Probability=\frac{1}{24}

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

As the question states,

John's brother has Galactosemia which states that his parents were both the carriers.

Therefore, the chances for the John to have the disease is = 2/3

Now,

Martha's great-grandmother also had the disease that means her children definitely carried the disease means probability of 1.

Now, one of those children married with a person.

So,

Probability for the child to have disease will be = 1/2

Now, again the child's child (Martha) probability for having the disease is = 1/2.

Therefore,

<u>The total probability for Martha's first child to be diagnosed with Galactosemia will be,</u>

Probability=\frac{2}{3}\times \frac{1}{2}\times \frac{1}{2}\times \frac{1}{4}\\Probability=\frac{1}{24}

(Here, we assumed that the child has the disease therefore, the probability was taken to be = 1/4.)

<em><u>Hence, the probability for the first child to have Galactosemia is \frac{1}{24}</u></em>

A machine paints 34o toy boats im 3/4 of an hour how many boats can he make per hour
leonid [27]
Here, we can set up a proportion:

34 ÷ 3/4 = ? ÷ 1
34*1 = 34
34÷3/4 = the time needed to build one toyboat

34/3/4 = 45.3333333333

45.3 repeating is not a whole number, so we need to approximate.

45 is the closest whole number,

So.. a machine can paint 45 toy boats per hour.

I really hope that helped! :)
