We use the tangent for this

tan 26 1   = opposite / adjacent =  h / 205   where h = height of cliff

h = 205 tan 26 1   =    100 feet

Answer:

Let the distance of the cliff from the boat be y and height of the top of the cliff be x.

As per the statement:

From a boat on the lake, the angle of elevation to the top of a cliff is 26°1'. If the base of the cliff is 205 feet from the boat.

⇒y = 205 feet, \theta =26^{\circ} 1'

We have to find the high is the cliff i,e x.

Using tangent ratio:

\tan \theta = \frac{\text{Opposite side}}{\text{Adjacent side}}

See the diagram as shown below:

Opposite side = x feet

adjacent side = 205 feet

Using conversion:

1' = \frac{1}{60}^{\circ}

then;

\theta =26^{\circ} 1' = 26\frac{1}{60} = 26.017^{\circ}

Substitute these values we have;

\tan 26.017^{\circ} = \frac{x}{205}

Multiply both sides by 205 we have;

x = \tan 26.017^{\circ} \cdot 205 = 0.48809992903 \cdot 205 =100.060485453 ft

Therefore, 100 ft high is the cliff(to the nearest foot)

Find the distance between 13/3 and the square root of 16/9
Ainat [17]

Answer:

Root 16=4

Root 9=3

Therefore it becomes 4/3

Now distance between the two= 13/3-4/3 which is equal to 9/3 and 9 divided by 3 is 3.

Therefore the distance between the two on a number line is 3

nadya68 [22]

Answer:

f 1 pound on Earth is equal to 1.19 pounds on Neptune all you have to do is multiply the number of Earth pounds by their Neptunian equivalent: 9x1.19=10.71 the dog would weigh 10.71 pounds :) I hope this makes sense :)

If x+3/3 = y+2/2 then x/3 =
lukranit [14]
I'd say first isolate the "x"
(x+3)/3=(y+2)/2
x+3=3*(y+2)/2
x=3(y+2)/2 -3

so we get "x" equals three times "y" plus two which is then divided by two and subtracted by three.

after that I would simply divide both sides by three as shown below

x/3=( 3*(y+2)/2  -3)/3

x/3 =(y+2)/2 -1  (answer simplified)

What is the y-intercept of this line?
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

This equation is in slope intercept form (y=mx+b). This is called slope intercept form for a reason - m is always the slope and b is always the y-intercept.

We can see that the coefficient on the x-term is -\frac{4}{3} and the constant being added to it is 5.

This means 5 is the y-intercept.

Hope this helped!
