We use the tangent for this

tan 26 1   = opposite / adjacent =  h / 205   where h = height of cliff

h = 205 tan 26 1   =    100 feet

Answer:

Let the distance of the cliff from the boat be y and height of the top of the cliff be x.

As per the statement:

From a boat on the lake, the angle of elevation to the top of a cliff is 26°1'. If the base of the cliff is 205 feet from the boat.

⇒y = 205 feet, \theta =26^{\circ} 1'

We have to find the high is the cliff i,e x.

Using tangent ratio:

\tan \theta = \frac{\text{Opposite side}}{\text{Adjacent side}}

See the diagram as shown below:

Opposite side = x feet

adjacent side = 205 feet

Using conversion:

1' = \frac{1}{60}^{\circ}

then;

\theta =26^{\circ} 1' = 26\frac{1}{60} = 26.017^{\circ}

Substitute these values we have;

\tan 26.017^{\circ} = \frac{x}{205}

Multiply both sides by 205 we have;

x = \tan 26.017^{\circ} \cdot 205 = 0.48809992903 \cdot 205 =100.060485453 ft

Therefore, 100 ft high is the cliff(to the nearest foot)

How does the graph of y= -(2x+6)^2+3 compare to the graph of a parent function
raketka [301]

Here the list of the transformations applied to the parent function, and their effect:

  1. x^2 \to (2x)^2=4x^2. This causes a horizontal compression of factor 4.
  2. (2x)^2 \to (2x+6)^2= 4(x+3)^2. This causes a horizontal translation, 3 units to the left.
  3. (2x+6)^2 \to -(2x+6)^2. This causes a reflection about the x axis.
  4. -(2x+6)^2 \to -(2x+6)^2+3. This causes a vertical translation, 3 units up

So, if you start from the graph of y=x^2, you have to compress and translate it horizontally, flip it with respect to the x axis, and finally move it up 3 units.

PLSSSSSSS HELP !!! ASAP PLS
Serga [27]

Answer: It would be the second option.

Step-by-step explanation:

If angles 7 and 1 are supplementary, so are 5 and 1 because angle 7= angle 5. Supplements are not always equal. Imagine a more acute angle. One would be, say, 30, and the other would be 150. These numbers are different, so it would be the second option.
