What is the solution to the following equation? 3/8 x + 6(x + 3) = -5( 1/4 x - 1) + 6x x = -13 x = 13 x = 8 x = -8
Levart [38]

3 \div 8x + 6x + 3x =  - 5 \times 1  \div 4x -  - 5 \times 1 + 6xx =   - 13x = 13x = 8x =  - 8

Jen Butler has been pricing Speed-Pass train fares for a group trip to New York. Three adults and four children must pay $ 79.
xxMikexx [17]

<u>Answer:</u>

Price of the adult's ticket = $13

Price of a child's ticket = $ 10

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Given:

Cost of train fares for Three adults and four children = $79

Cost of train fares Two adults and three children  = $ 56

To Find:

Price of the adult's ticket and the price of a child's ticket =?

Solution:

Let the cost of one adult's ticket be x  and

Let the cost of one child's ticket be y

Then

Three adults and four children must pay $ 79 be

3x + 4y = 79-----------------------------------------------(1)

Two adults and three children must pay $56

2x + 3y = 56----------------------------------------------(2)

multiply  eq(1) by 2, we get

6x + 8y = 158----------------------(3)

multiply  eq(2) by 3, we get

6x + 9y = 168----------------------(4)

Subracting (3) from (4)

 6x + 9y = 168

 6x + 8y = 158

(-)      (-)       (-)

------------------------------

0x +  y = 10

------------------------------

y=10

Now substitute the value of y in eq (1) to get the value of x

3x + 4(10)= 79

3x +  40 = 79

3x = 79 - 40

3x = 39

x = \frac{39}{3}

x= 13

The sides of triangle ABC are 4.5feet 7.5 ft and 9 ft.The area is about 17 square feet. Explain how to use the are of triangle A
Nuetrik [128]
In order to get the area of a triangle using sides, the formula that we are going to use is Heron's formula. This is after from "Hero of Alexandria".
So here is the step by step process:
First, we calculate for s (half of the triangles perimeter) s = a+b+c divided by 2.
s = 6 + 10 + 12 / 2
s =28/2
s = 14
Now that we have the s, we can now calculate for the area.
A = square root of s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)
A= square root of 14 x 8 x 4 x 2
A= square root of 896
A = 29.93
The area of triangle DEF is 29.93 square feet or 30 square feet. Hope this answer helps.
