What expressions are equivalent to 2^5*2^x

Mathematics

The rules of exponents tell you
  (a^b)·(a^c) = a^(b+c)
Then
  (2^5)·(2^x) = 2^(5+x)
Since 2^5 = 32, this is also equivalent to
  32·2^x

The appropriate choices are ...
  C) 32·2^x
  D) 2^(5+x)

Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Remark

There are probably a couple of ways that you could do this. I'm going to pick the most obvious way.

Givens.

KN = 2.5

NO = 10

LM = 3

MP = x

Equation

NO/KN = PM / LM

Solution

10 / 2.5 = x / 3              Cross multiply

2.5x = 10 * 3                 Combine

2.5x = 30                      Divide by 2.5

x = 30/2.5

x = 12

That looks like it should be the answer, and it almost is, but you are asked for LP.

LP = LM + MP

LP = 3 + 12

LP = 15

The answer is 15

Bryan and his son, and Elton and his son all went fishing. Bryan caught as many fish as his son and Elton caught three times as
Annette [7]

Answer:

The answer is explained below

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a word problem, therefore to solve it the statement have to be writing in form of an equation and then solved.

Let the number of fishes caught by Bryan's son be x fishes. Since Bryan caught as many fish as his son, Bryan caught x fishes

Let the number of fishes caught by Elton's son be y fishes. Since Elton caught three times as many fish as his son, Bryan caught 3y fishes

All together, they caught 25 fish

Therefore it can be represented by the equation:

x + x + y + 3y = 25

2x + 4y = 25

2x = 25 - 4y

x = (25 - 4y)/2

The number of fish caught by Bryan is half of the difference between the total fish caught and four times the number of fish caught by Elton son

Compare the graphs of the inverse variations. y=1/x and y=2.5/x
stellarik [79]

Answer:

The graph of

y =  \frac{2.5}{x}

us a vertical stretch of the graph of

y =  \frac{1}{x}

by a factor of 2.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given functions are

y =  \frac{1}{x}

and

y =  \frac{2.5}{x}

The graph of

y =  \frac{1}{x}

is the parent rational function.

The graph of

y =  \frac{2.5}{x}

is a vertical stretch of the parent rational function by a factor of 2.5
