Answer:

There is a hypothesis that viruses are alive because they have genetic material inside them, however there are scientists who disagree because viruses need a host cell to replicate their genetic material.  Viruses have internal DNA or RNA surrounded by a structure called capsid.

Because they fully depend on the metabolism of a cell for replication, they are considered non-living.

The decimal reduction time (DRT) to kill 90% of cell present for autoclaving a culture is 1.5 minutes. How long would it take to
-BARSIC- [3]

Answer:

10.5minutes

Explanation:

DRT = 90%

Cells present = 10^6

Autoclaving = 1.5 minutes

Solution:

10^6(1.5)10^5(1.5)10^4(1.5)10^3(1.5)10^2(1.5)10^1(1.5)10^0(1.5)0=10.5

it would take it approximately 10.5 minutes to kill 10^6 of the cells.

If i should stop the heating process at 9 minutes this would have effect on some of the microbes as they are still present with 1 bacterium left which makes it not efficient.

Mr. and Mrs. Green have a daughter, Georgia, who was born at Riverside Community Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Blue have a daughter, Be
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

Yes, Mrs Green is correct that Belle is her biological daughter

Explanation:

According to this question, Mr. and Mrs. Green is said to have a daughter, Georgia while Mr. and Mrs. Blue is said to have a daughter, Belle. Both daughters were born the same day. Hence, a controversy occured as Mrs. Green thinks that Belle is her biological daughter.

Based on the blood analysis, the following were obtained:

Mr. Green: Type A

Mrs. Green: Type A

Georgia: Type A

Mr. Blue: Type AB

Mrs. Blue: Type A

Belle: Type O

The genotype of the following blood types is as follows:

Type A - iAiA or iAi

Type B - iBiB or iBi

Type O - ii

Type AB - iAiB

From the analysis of blood types of Mr and Mrs Green, which are both type A, they can possibly produce a child with type A.

However, from the analysis of Mr. and Mrs. Blue, it is impossible to have a child with blood type O. However it is possible for Mr and Mrs. Green if they are both heterozygous (iAi × iAi). The punnet square is attached. Hence, Mrs Green is correct about her claim since Mr. and Mrs. Blue cannot have a child with blood type A.

What conclusions can be drawn about the existence of carbon-12, carbon-13, and carbon-14? A) These are forms of carbon and they
Kryger [21]

Answer:

C.

Explanation:

All these carbon atoms are isotopes: they have the same amount of protons (in this case, 6 because carbon always has 6 protons) and the same amount of electrons (6 because the carbons given have a neutral charge).

Therefore, the only thing we are changing is the atomic mass and the amount of neutrons present in each isotope.

In Carbon-12, there are 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons.

In Carbon-13, there are 6 protons, 7 neutrons, and 6 electrons.

In Carbon-14, there are 6 protons, 8 neutrons, and 6 electrons.

Which cross shows both parents having two different alleles for each of two different genes?
shtirl [24]

Answer:

The correct option is Number 1. AaBb x AaBb

Explanation:

Genes can be described as basic hereditary units. The genes are made up of DNA.

A gene carries two alleles for a particular trait. These alleles are present at the same loci in the homologous chromosomes. If the two alleles are similar then they are termed as homozygous e.g AA, BB. If the alleles for a trait are different then they are termed as heterozygous e.g Aa and Bb.
