What problems did Great Britain’s postwar economy have?

Social Studies
1 answer:
sergey [27]3 years ago

The economy of Great Britain was greatly damaged during World War II. During the war, the economy was modified in order to operate solely for the purposes of war. Therefore, postwar economy needed to be carefully rebuilt in order to satisfy the needs of peaceful Great Britain.

One of the first problems the country faced after the war was a harsh winter coupled with shortages of coal in 1946-1947. This meant that the economy did not significantly improve during this period. Another problem was the fact that there was a run on Sterling, as pounds were traded for dollars. This led to the devaluation of the British pound. In order to encourage trade, products were prioritized for exportation, which meant that rationing was extended in some way or another until 1954. Although the United States contributed with aid in order to encourage business, the money was mostly used to repay British debts, which made the modernization of the economy much slower than in other areas of Europe.

Economists normally assume that the goal of a firm is to earn
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

B. (iii) only

Explanation:

Economists normally assume that the goal of a firm is to earn

(iii) revenues as large as possible, even if it reduces profits.

The reason for economist to normally assume the goal of a firm is to earn revenues as large as possible, even if it reduces profits, is that, while achieving more profit is what can make firm to keep running, there are times when rather than maximizing the profits alone, the economist look at the long run and seeks to generate more sales or total revenue, even if it decreases the profit generated, so as to increase the firm market share relative to its competitors.

Hence, economist seeks to maximize profits, while making higher number of sales.

In short, the seek the following:

1. Growth Maximization

2. Increasing Market Share

3. Satisfying Behavior

4. Maximizing Sales or Total Revenue

If I'm assuming correctly that "courteous behavior" is one option, then that is the answer :)

You've probably heard the word "courtesy" or the phrase "common courtesy" before. Courteous is the adjective form of that word and it means polite/considerate. Jonas holding the door open is being polite/considerate or courteous, and he is showing courteous behavior.
