I wont be able to fully form the paragraph but i hope this helps.

1. Salt water solution
2. The water is the solvent (it dissolves the salt)
3. The salt is the solute (what is being dissolved)
4. The difference between the solute and the solvent is that the solvent is a liquid (water) which dissolves the solid (salt), and the solute is what is being dissolved by the solvent.
A solvent and a solute majes a solution.

This can work for anything like sugar and water If you want a different example, but just keep in mind some things arent soluble like flour or sand (depending on the solvent)

What contributes to cell membrane fluidity? Proteins and lipids exist as separate but loosely attached molecules that can move a
Charra [1.4K]

Answer:

Proteins and lipids exist as separate but loosely attached molecules that can move around

Explanation:

Cell membranes are mainly composed of lipids, proteins, and also carbohydrates. Phospholipids are the most abundant type of lipid and the main constituent of the cell membranes. Membrane proteins are divided into two types according to their interactions with the cell membrane: 1-integral (intrinsic) and peripheral (extrinsic) proteins. These peripheral proteins are loosely attached by ionic bonds or calcium bridges with the phosphate heads of the phospholipids; whereas integral membrane proteins contain side chains that interact with fatty acyl groups of the phospholipids. Cell membrane fluidity indicates how easily lipids (e.g., phospholipids and cholesterol) and proteins (e.g., intrinsic proteins) diffuse laterally in the cell membrane. This fluidity is affected by the amount of cholesterol, temperature, and the ratio of unsaturated to saturated fatty acids. Saturated fatty acids have no double bonds in the hydrocarbon chain, whereas unsaturated fatty acids have at least one double bond (these double bonds increase fluidity). Moreover, higher temperatures increase membrane fluidity, whereas cholesterol molecules function to regulate membrane fluidity: at high temperatures cholesterol molecules stabilize the membrane, whereas at low temperatures intercalate between phospholipids, thereby preventing them from clustering together.

Distinguishing the Domains of Life
vitfil [10]

Answer:

1) Organisms in this domain can be unicellular or multicellular - Eukarya

2) Organisms in this domain are unicellular and are often found in extreme environments - Archaea

3) Organisms in this domain have cells that contain a nucleus - Eukarya

Explanation:

All living organisms were classified into a large group consisting of three types of organisms called DOMAIN. It is the highest taxonomic rank of organisms. The three domains that life was classified into are: Archaea, Bacteria and Eukarya.

The domain Archaea contains organisms that are unicellular and prokaryotic i.e. they do not have a membrane-bound nucleus. The organisms in this domain are characterized by their ability to survive in harsh environmental conditions e.g hot temperatures etc

The domain Bacteria also consists of unicellular and prokaryotic organisms. They contain cell walls in their cells made up of peptidoglycan unlike domain Archaea and Eukarya.

The domain Eukarya consists of organisms that are both unicellular and multicellular and strictly eukaryotic i.e. possess a membrane bound nucleus that houses their genetic material. They are divided into Kingdoms: Protista, Plantae, Animalia and Fungi.
