Answer:

Either  x= 1                                     or  x= -3/2

Step-by-step explanation:

= 2X^2 + x - 1 =2

= 2x^2 + x -1 - 2 = 0

= 2x^2 + x -3 = 0

now the above equation has become quadratic equation so we apply the quadratic formula which is:

x= (−b ± √ b^ 2 − 4ac )/2a

here,

a=2, b=1 and c=-3

putting the values in the formula:

x= (−1 ± √ (1)^ 2 − 4(2)(-3) )/2(2)

x= (−1 ± √ (1) + 24) )/(4)

x= (−1 ± √ 25 )/(4)

x= (−1 ±  5  ) / (4)

now,

Either: x= (−1 + 5  ) / (4)              or: x= (−1 -  5  ) / (4)

          x= (4) /(4)                             x= (-6) / (4)

          x= 1                                      x= -3/2
