Hello!

To solve for the x-intercepts, you need to use the zero product property in order to solve for your x's.

3x - 10 = 0      x - 1 = 0
    + 10 + 10      + 1 + 1
3x = 10                 x = 1
/3     /3
x = 10/3

To solve for the y-intercept, you need to substitute x for 0.

f(0) = 3x² - 13x + 10
f(0) = 3(0)² - 13(0) + 10
f(0) = 10

Therefore, your x-intercepts are x = 10/3 and 1 and your y-intercept is 10.

A vertical pole is supported by two ropes staked to the ground on opposite sides of the pole. One rope is 8 meters long, and the
aniked [119]
Establish two right triangles, both with the height of the pole, h.

Call x the distance from the pole to one stake. Then the distance from the other stake to the pole is 6 -x.

Apply Pytagora's equation to both triangles.

1) h^2 = 7^2 - x^2

2) h^2 = 8^2 - (6-x)^2

Eaual 1 to 2

7^2 - x^2 = 8^2 - 6^2 +12x -x^2

12x = 7^2 -8^2 +6^2 = 49 -64 + 36 = 21

x = 1.75

Substitue x-value in 1

h^2 = 49 - (1.75)^2 = 45.94

h = sqrt(45.94) = 6.78

Answer:

f(x) = 2(x –3)²

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = 2x² – 12x + 18

The vertex form of the above expression can be obtained as follow:

f(x) = 2x² – 12x + 18

Factorise

f(x) = 2(x² – 6x + 9)

Next, we shall simplify x² – 6x + 9 by factorisation method.

This is illustrated below:

x² – 6x + 9

Multiply the first term i.e x² and last term i.e 9 together. The result is 9x².

Next, find two factors of 9x² such that their sum will result to the 2nd term i.e –6x in the expression above.

The factors are –3x and –3x

Next, replace –6x with –3x and –3x in the equation above as shown below:

x² – 6x + 9

x² – 3x –3x + 9

Factorise

x(x – 3) –3(x –3)

(x –3)(x –3)

(x –3)²

f(x) = 2x² – 12x + 18

f(x) = 2(x² – 6x + 9)

f(x) = 2(x –3)²

Therefore, the vertex form of the function f(x) = 2x² – 12x + 18 is

f(x) = 2(x –3)²
