Because economy within a certain region will be heavily depended on what resources that are available in that region.
Since the Arabian Pennisula do not possess a good climate to produce agricultural products, it's almost impossible for agricultural sector to flourish in this region, and therefore they focused their economy on things such as oil, silk, zaitun, etc.

What might happen today if the United States and other nations followed the key idea of the Kellogg - Briand Pact ?
IgorC [24]
The Kellogg-Briand Pact was an agreement to outlaw war signed on August 27, 1928. Sometimes called the Pact of Paris for the city in which it was signed, the pact was one of many international efforts to prevent another World War, but it had little effect in stopping the rising militarism of the 1930s or preventing World War II.

Why were americans susceptible to fear based politics in the early 1950s?
Serga [27]
Revelations that spies in the US atomic program had passed secrets to the Soviet Union set off a nationwide panic that communist spies might be infiltrating many American institutions.
Allegations that Hollywood was rife with communists led the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) to investigate many actors, writers, and directors during the 1950s. Alleged communists were placed on a blacklist and barred from working in Hollywood.
Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy took advantage of this widespread paranoia to advance himself politically by accusing State Department employees of communist leanings. McCarthy's accusations were unsubstantiated, and the Senate eventually censured him.
