The total amount of tax on her purchases to the nearest cent will be $9.97

<em><u>Explanation</u></em>

Marcella Heinz purchased office supplies for $107.64 and then she purchased an English-Spanish dictionary for $16.95

So, the total amount of her purchases =\$107.64+\$16.95=\$ 124.59

On the total amount of the purchases, she paid state sales tax of 7.5% and the county tax of 0.5%

So, the <u>amount of the state sales tax</u> =\$124.59*7.5\%= \$124.59*0.075=\$9.34425

and the <u>amount of county tax</u> =\$124.59*0.5\% =\$124.59*0.005 = \$0.62295

Thus, the total amount of tax on her purchases =\$9.34425+\$0.62295= \$9.9672 \approx 9.97  <em>(Rounded to the nearest cent)</em>

Use induction to prove that 2? ?? for any integer n&gt;0 . Indicate type of induction used.
Hoochie [10]

Answer with explanation:

The given statement is which we have to prove by the principal of Mathematical Induction

    2^{n}>n

1.→For, n=1

L H S =2

R H S=1

2>1

L H S> R H S

So,the Statement is true for , n=1.

2.⇒Let the statement is true for, n=k.

      2^{k}>k

                   ---------------------------------------(1)

3⇒Now, we will prove that the mathematical statement  is true for, n=k+1.

     \rightarrow 2^{k+1}>k+1\\\\L H S=\rightarrow 2^{k+1}=2^{k}\times 2\\\\\text{Using 1}\\\\2^{k}>k\\\\\text{Multiplying both sides by 2}\\\\2^{k+1}>2k\\\\As, 2 k=k+k,\text{Which will be always greater than }k+1.\\\\\rightarrow 2 k>k+1\\\\\rightarrow2^{k+1}>k+1

Hence it is true for, n=k+1.

So,we have proved the statement with the help of mathematical Induction, which is

      2^{k}>k

The sum of the squares of three consecutive positive integers is 7805. What is the sum of the cubes of the three original intege
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

398259

Step-by-step explanation:

Let from the given positive integers, x be the smallest integers,

Also, numbers are consecutive,

So, the second integer = x + 1,

Third integer = x + 2,

According to the question,

x^2+(x+1)^2+(x+2)^2=7805

x^2+x^2+2x+1+x^2+4x+4=7805

3x^2+6x+5=7805

3x^2+6x+5-7805=0

3x^2+6x-7800=0

x^2+2x-2600

By middle term splitting,

x^2+(52-50)x-2600=0

x^2+52x-50x-2600=0

x(x+52)-50(x+52)=0

(x-50)(x+52)=0

By zero product property,

x-50 = 0 or x + 52 =0

⇒ x = 50 or x = -52 ( not possible )

Hence, numbers are 50, 51, 52,

∵ (50)³ + (51)³ + (52)³ = 125000 + 132651 + 140608 = 398259

What digit placed in the blank would make the number 138_ divisible by both 4 and 5
kap26 [50]

Answer:

The digit that should be placed in the blank is 0.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the four-digit number: 138_

And we want to determine the digit that should be placed in the blank to make the number be divisible by both 4 and 5.

A number that is divisible by 5 must end in either 0 or 5. This leaves us with only two options: 1380 or 1385.

Recalling divisibility rules, for a number to be divisible by 4, its last two digits must be divisible by 4.

80 is indeed divisible by 4, while 85 is not.

In conclusion, the digit that should be placed in the blank is 0, with the number being 1380.
