Use proportion:-

4/8 = x / 40  where x is the page that  Lauren is on.
8x = 4*40 = 160
x = 160/8  = 20

⇒Number of pages read by Aurey in a day =8 pages

He is on page 40.

Number of days required to reach on page 40,if he reads 8 pages in day

                                   $=\frac{40}{8}\\\\=5 \text{days}$

⇒Number of pages read by lauren in a day =4 pages

After 5 days , number of pages read by lauren =4 ×5=20 Pages

So,Lauren is on 20th page after 5 days.
