How does latitude affect climate

Geography

Answer:

Typically, the greater the latitude (or the farther away from the equator), the colder and harsher the climate.

Explanation:

At the equator, the sun's light basically hits Earth dead-on. At greater latitudes, light hits the Earth at more of an angle, meaning the same amount of light is spread over a greater area. So, areas at greater latitudes receive less light and heat from the sun, which of course makes them colder.

Farther away from the equator the colder and less humid, the closer to the equator the hotter and more humid it is

Match the climate change term in column 1 to the characteristics in column 2.
Leona [35]

Answer:

Human activity - Produces greenhouse gasses.

Greenhouse gasses - Cause atmosphere to trap more heat.

Sun's output - Can vary.

Ice age - Peaked 20,000 years ago.

Explanation:

Human activity includes the usage of fossil fuels on a very large scale, and by using them we release huge amounts of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.

The greenhouse gasses have the ability to trap the heat that is reflected from the surface of the planet, thus keeping more of it in the atmosphere and causing global temperature rise.

The sun is technically a star, thus an object that produces energy and light, and like every star, it has variations in its activity in accordance with the processes going on on it.

There have been numerous ice ages through the geological past, and the last one of them ended only around 10,000 years ago, with its peak being just 20,000 years ago.

Sedimentary rocks formed through the accumulation of organic carbon (dead plant matter) in low-oxygen environments (like swamps)
valina [46]

Biochemical sedimentary rocks are sedimentary rocks created by the buildup of organic carbon (dead plant debris) in low-oxygen conditions (such as swamps).

When organisms utilize elements dissolved in air or water to develop their tissue, biochemical sedimentary rocks form. The calcareous skeletons of creatures such as corals, mollusks, and foraminifera are used to make most varieties of limestone.

Shells and bodies of submerged creatures are used to build biochemical sedimentary rocks. Chemical components from the water are extracted by living creatures and used to form shells and other body parts. Aragonite, a mineral related to and usually replaced by calcite, and silica are among the constituents.
