Prohibition contributed to the growth of organized crime because when alcohol was outlawed there was still a high rate of demand so organized criminal groups mobilized to fill the gap in supply. Alcohol was a commonly consumed product prior to prohibition and so the high profitability of the product led to a large growth in organized criminal groups.

Damien likes to put all sorts of things, like bugs, dirt, and shoelaces, in his mouth. He also likes playing with his toy train;
diamong [38]

Answer:

Sensorimotor stage of development

Explanation:

Piaget's theory of cognitive development has four stages of development and sensorimotor is the first stage of child development. At sensorimotor stage the child learns by assimilation and accommodation, he/she tries to know the environment by using the senses. This period lasts for the first two years of the child's birth.

Damien puts those things in the mouth just to have a feel of them by sucking them. When he sees the toy train he plays with it but when he did not sense it he loses interest. Damien behaviour illustrates a child in the sensorimotor stage of development.

Researchers hypothesize that granitic soil is the ideal construction material for the desert tortoise because it is not so hard
anygoal [31]

Answer:

A). So hard that it makes burrowing difficult or so soft that it could cause.

Explanation:

As per the question, the correct revision of the given phrase is displayed through 'option A' as it correctly employs the idiomatic phrase and uses 'that' correctly to indicate the results or outcomes('So hard that it makes burrowing difficult' or 'so soft that it could cause') of an action. The other options either carries parallelism error in presenting the degrees equally('hard enough' and 'soft enough as' in option B', 'so hard as' and 'so enough so' in option C) or fails to portray the comparison inappropriately(options D(no use of noun after 'as hard as' to which it compares and in option E('too hard' to what is not elaborated). Thus, option A is the correct answer.
