There are the same amount of carbon atoms on Earth now as there were in the past, but there are more in the atmosphere ever befo
kupik [55]

The global average atmospheric carbon dioxide in 2019 was 409.8 parts per million (ppm for short), with a range of uncertainty of plus or minus 0.1 ppm. Carbon dioxide levels today are higher than at any point in at least the past 800,000 years. The carbon cycle describes the process in which carbon atoms continually travel from the atmosphere to the Earth and then back into the atmosphere. Since our planet and its atmosphere form a closed environment, the amount of carbon in this system does not change.

Why do you think bread turns moldy less quickly when it is kept in a refrigerator than when it is kept at room temperature
PSYCHO15rus [73]
Hi there!

I think bread turns moldy less quickly when it is kept in a refrigerator than when it is kept at room temperature because bacteria eats foods like bread and causes mold, and less bacteria grow in colder temperatures. Since less types of bacteria thrive in colder temperatures, it takes longer for less bacteria to create mold.

Hope this helps!

Identify the following structure:
nika2105 [10]

Answer: I included a labeled graph of both a plant cell and an animal cell. I don't know if you needed an explanation of what they do, too, but I'll include it anyway.

Explanation:

The Cell Membrane, or plasma membrane, provides protection for the cell. It also transports substances in and out of the cell.

The Cell Wall (only plants) provides the structure for a plant, as well as added protection.

The Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, providing energy for our cells to do their work. They produce a small molecule called ATP (adenosine triphosphate), where the energy is stored and sent to where it is needed.

The Lysosomes are the waste facilities of cells. They breakdown excess or worn-out cell parts, destroy foreign or invading bacteria, and digest macromolecules (carbs, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids)

How does the pH effect an enzyme reaction?
Nataly_w [17]
A pH environment has a significant effect on an enzymes. It can affect the intramolecular forces and change the enzyme's shape -- potentially to the point where it is rendered ineffective. With these effects in mind, typical enzymes have a pH range in which they perform optimally. For example, alpha amylase, which found in the mouth, operates most effectively near a neutral pH. However, lipases operate better at more basic pH levels.
