4x + 2y = 22
3x + 4y = 24
Use the process of elimination. Where you can either decide which number variation you want to eliminate by multiplying it with a negative or positive, then distribute it on your chosen equation.
- 2 X (4x + 2y = 22)- - > - 8x - 4y = - 44
- 8x - 4y= - 44
3x + 4y= 24
- 4y and +4y will cancel out by means of canceling y and you are left solving for x.
- 5x = - 20
Divide - 5 on both sides.
x= 4
3 X (4) + 4y=24
Plug your 4 to the x of 3 and multiply. Now you will be solving for y.
12 + 4y=24
4y = 24 - 12
y= 3
Final answer: (4,3)

Answer:

(x=0, y=11)

(x=2, y=9)

Step-by-step explanation:

first equation substitution for x first.

y=11-x

plug into 2nd equation

(x+2)^2+(11-x-7)^2=20

this should lead you into a quadratics equation.

you get x=0, x=2.

do the same for y value this time, subbing in the x value

(11-y+2)^2+(y-7)^2=20

this also leads into a quad equation

solve and you get y=11, and y=9

In basketball, Shaquille makes 40% of his free throw attempts. He goes to the free throw line to shoot one and one ( if he makes
Anna11 [10]
Situations:
1) he makes 1st shot + he makes 2nd shot
P(A) = 0.4 · 0.4 = 0.16  ( 16 % )
2) he makes 1 st shot + he misses 2nd shot
P(B) = 0.4 · 0.6 = 0.24   ( 24 % )
3) he misses 1st shot and he has no more attempts
P (C) = 0.6 ( 60 %)
0.16 · 2 + 0.24 · 1 + 0.6 · 0 = 0.32 + 0.34 = 0.56
The expected value is 0.56 points.
