One of the most remarkable stories about an Olympic athlete’s comeback is the story of Betty Robinson. Robinson won a gold medal

for the hundred-meter race in 1928—just four months after she started her track career as a sixteen-year-old high school student. The 1928 Olympics was the first time women were allowed to compete, and Robinson became the first woman to win a gold medal. In 1931, she suffered severe head injuries, a broken arm, and a broken leg during a plane crash. A surgeon placed a pin and rod in her leg to stabilize it, and doctors thought she would never walk again. Robinson worked hard at rehabilitation, and she could not accept the fact that her track career was over. She competed in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. She won another gold medal for running the third leg of the women’s 4x100 relay. The writer wants to emphasize Robinson’s determination.
Which of the following statements would best conclude this paragraph by effectively summarizing its main idea?

Robinson’s story illustrates that very few people have the capability to rehabilitate themselves.

Robinson’s story illustrates that doctors can never predict who will prevail over debilitating injuries.

Robinson’s story illustrates that the chance to compete in the Olympics motivated her to walk and run again.

Robinson’s story illustrates that an ambitious mindset can overcome physical challenges.

By presenting the early start of Robinson's career in her track career, the author is trying to set the ground for s strong and determined will possessed by the athlete in the first sentences. The author accomplishes this by presenting the short time it took Robinson to win her first gold medal, only four months.

The next inspirational statement is presented when the author mentions that in the 1928 Olympics it was the first time women were allowed to compete, and Robinson became the first woman to win a gold medal, again she is giving sign of a tremendous willpower.

With this introduction it is easy to notice that in order to emphasize and close the idea the only correct option is the last one: Robinson’s story illustrates that an ambitious mindset can overcome physical challenges.

the first one mentions that very few people have the capability to rehabilitate themselves. We do not have any evidence that suggest that in the paragraph.

the same happens with the two other options, we have no evidence present that the doctors can never predict who will prevail over debilitating injuries, or that Robinson’s story illustrates that the chance to compete in the Olympics motivated her to walk and run again.
