There are two prominent, nationally circulated newspapers, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Among all libraries across the

country, 45% subscribe to The Wall Street Journal and 40% subscribe to USA Today, while only 25% subscribe to both The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. If a library is selected at random, what is the probability that it subscribes to The Wall Street Journal but not USA Today?

Let The Wall Street Journal be A, and USA Today be B.  We want
P(A∩B^c), or the intersection of A and Not B happening.
P(A∩B^c)=P(A∪B)-P(B) = [P(A)+P(B)-P(A and B)]-P(B)
=(0.45+0.40-0.25)-0.40 = 0.2.

Answer:

20% = 0.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A = Wall Street Journal = 45%

Let B = USA Today = 40%

Let C = Both = 25%

C = A∩B = 25%

The focus is to determine that a random library subscribes to A only

The probability of subscribing to A = 45%

However, there are subscribers to A that are also subsribed to B

This group is C = 25%

To find the probability of subscribing to A only;

Probability of A only = P{A} - P{A∩B} = P{A} - P{C}

P{A} only = 45% - 25% = 20%

P{A} only = 0.2

The area of a trapezium is 800 cm2
svlad2 [7]

Answer:

The distance between the parallel sides is 20cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a trapezoid:

A=\frac{a+b}{2}\times h

where a and b are the 2 bases, and h is the height. The value we're trying to find here is the height.

3 of the 4 variables in this equation are already given:

A = 800

a = 48

b = 32

Just plug those in and solve for h:

\rightarrow 800=\frac{48+32}{2}\times h\\\rightarrow 800=\frac{80}{2}\times h\\\rightarrow 800=40\times h\\\rightarrow 800\div40=h\\\rightarrow h=20

All tickets for a concert are the same price the tickets agency as a fixed fee to every order a person to order six tickets paid
Tom [10]

x will represent the number of tickets.

y will represent the fixed fee given by the ticket agency

6x + y = 135

3x + y = 75

To solve, we can use the process of elimination by multiplying the second equation by -2 so that 6y will cancel:

-6x - 2y = -150

+6y + y = 135

Now we simplify by adding/subtracting:

-y = -15 or y = 15

Plug the value of y into any of the two equations and solve for x. I will use the second equation:

3x + 15 = 75

3x = 60

x = 20

To set this up in slope intercept form (y = mx + b), we need to identify what m and b are.

m is x because it is not a fixed number, and b is y because it is a fixed number (price of “fixed” fee). This brings us to y = 20x + 15

Train passes the first 110 miles in 3 hours, and the next 240 miles at the rate of 60 mph. What was the average speed of the tra
gogolik [260]

Answer:

50 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

The total distance is 350 miles.

The total time is 3 hr + (240 mi / 60 mph) = 7 hr.

The average speed is 350 mi / 7 hr = 50 mph.
