<u>Explanation:</u>

To a poor old woman is the poem written by  William Carlos Williams.  William Carlos Williams is an American poet also he has practiced medicine and he is known for his work in the following area modernism and imagism. In this particular poem, "To a poor old woman" he states how he knows that woman is poor??   From her dress or looks and stuff and she is eating plums and the plum taste is not good.

The facial expression of the woman shows that she is poor by the way plums are not especially expensive,  She may have to spend excess amount to buy a whole bag and this particular poem compares the plum with pity, charity, offerings, and love and this the poem of appreciation, William Carlos nailed with his work.
