Let, the number of students at Nick's school on last year be x.

Given, 98% of x is the number of students in this year.

Also given, there are 1170 students in the school this year.

First we will find 98% of x.

98% of x = (x)(\frac{98}{100}) = \frac{98x}{100}

So, we can write the equation as,

\frac{98x}{100} = 1170

To solve it for x, first we will move 100 to the other side by multiplying 100 to both sides, we will get,

(\frac{98x}{100}) (100)= (1170)(100)

98x = (1170)(100)

98x = 117000

To get x, we will move 98 to the right side by dividing it to both sides. We will get,

\frac{98x}{98} =\frac{117000}{98}

x =\frac{117000}{98}

x = 1194 (Approximately taken to the nearest whole number)

We have got the required answer.

The number of students were there in the school last year is 1,194.

Aiden measures a book with paper strips. It is actually 10 paper strips long, but he gets an answer of 8. What is his mistake ?
Korolek [52]
I think the best possibility that could lead Aiden's mistake are the following, First, it must be that the length of the paper strips are not the same. Second, it would be that she miscounted the strips. I hope you are satisfied with my answer and feel free to ask for more

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a circle can be the expanded form of

\large \text{$(x-a)^2+(y-b)^2=r^2$}(x−a)

+(y−b)

where rr is the radius of the circle, (a,\ b)(a, b) is the center of the circle, and (x,\ y)(x, y) is a point on the circle.

Here, the equation of the circle is,

\begin{gathered}\begin{aligned}&x^2+y^2+10x-4y-20&=&\ \ 0\\ \\ \Longrightarrow\ \ &x^2+y^2+10x-4y+25+4-49&=&\ \ 0\\ \\ \Longrightarrow\ \ &x^2+y^2+10x-4y+25+4&=&\ \ 49\\ \\ \Longrightarrow\ \ &x^2+10x+25+y^2-4y+4&=&\ \ 49\\ \\ \Longrightarrow\ \ &(x+5)^2+(y-2)^2&=&\ \ 7^2\end{aligned}\end{gathered}

From this, we get two things:

\begin{gathered}\begin{aligned}1.&\ \ \textsf{Center of the circle is $(-5,\ 2)$.}\\ \\ 2.&\ \ \textsf{Radius of the circle is $\bold{7}$ units. }\end{aligned}\end{gathered}

1.

2.

Center of the circle is (−5, 2).

Radius of the circle is 7 units.

Hence the radius is 7 units.

Mias dog weighs 32.6 pounds. Letties dog weighs 3.8 times as much as Mias you. What does Letties dog weigh in pounds?
Whitepunk [10]
Hello!

We are given the weight of Mia's dog and told to find the weight of Lettie's dog based on the known relationship. Using these given values, we can create the following equation (let "w" represent the total weight of Lettie's dog):

w = 32.6(3.8)

Simplify the right side of the equation:

w = 123.88

We have now proven that Lettie's dog weighs 123.88 lbs.

I hope this helps!

florida received 15 inches of rainfall in 3 months of the year. If the state receive 4.25 each month until the end of the year,
kherson [118]
Since there are 12 months in there year and there have already been 3 months there are 9 left

we need to multiply 4.25 by 9 and then add the first 15 inchess

4.25 times 9 = 38.25+15 = 53.25

Florida will recieve 53.25 inches of rain

I hope I've helped!
