Rectangle is twice as long as it is wide

If the length is 1 mile then the width is .5 mile

Area = length x width

 = 1 * .5 = .5

Area = .5 square miles

Put population density in the format of 1 square mile

So if there is 1000 people per .5 square miles then there is 2000 people per square mile.

A rectange has a width of 9 units and a length of 40 unit. what is the length in diagonal
AlekseyPX

Answer:

41 units

Step-by-step explanation:

The diagonal forms a right triangle with the sides, so we can use Pythagorean theorem.

c² = a² + b²

d² = 9² + 40²

d = 41

The diagonal is 41 units long.

The difference of three and the reciprocal of a number is equal to the quotient of 20 and the number. Find the number.
Monica [59]

Equation to find number: \frac{1}{n} - 3 = \frac{20}{n}

Number's value: n = -\frac{19}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let n be the unknown number.

The reciprocal basically makes the number (n in this case) a fraction. So, that being said, the reciprocal of n would be \frac{1}{n}.

The difference of three and the reciprocal of a number (\frac{1}{n}) would be \frac{1}{n} - 3.

The quotient of 20 and the number (n) would be \frac{20}{n}.

So, with this information we've gathered so far, we can come up with an equation to find what the number equals.

Equation: \frac{1}{n} - 3 = \frac{20}{n}

To find what the number equals we must solve the equation.

6(x-2)=5x+3x+8 solve for x.
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

x = -10

Step-by-step explanation:

 6 • (x - 2) -  (8x + 8)  = 0

Pulling out like terms :

3.1     Pull out like factors :

  -2x - 20  =   -2 • (x + 10)

Equation at the end of step  3  :

 -2 • (x + 10)  = 0

Equations which are never true :

4.1      Solve :    -2   =  0

This equation has no solution.

A a non-zero constant never equals zero.

Solving a Single Variable Equation :

4.2      Solve  :    x+10 = 0

Subtract  10  from both sides of the equation :

                     x = -10

One solution was found :

                  x = -10

Processing ends successfully
