Causes of war could include economic, political, colonial (fighting against colonial power), conflict over territory, conflict over resources, colonial expansion, or an attempt to build an empire. The war in Ukraine is a result of the desire for territorial expansion by Russia, preventing Western intervention in the Ukraine, destabilizing Ukraine, and also to show that Russia is willing to fight to prevent its satellite states from joining NATO.
In 1908, Austria-Hungary annexed Bosnia, a country next to Serbia. This occurred on October 6th, 1908. There was a state of international tension which eventually led to it's fall.
