It's a binomial times a binomial, so you FOIL
First multiply the First numbers
3z*z = 3z(^2)
Then multiply Outers:
3z* -4  = -12z
Nest, Inners:
9*z = 9z
Finally, the Lasts:
-4*9 = -36
Then, throw it all together in descending order, starting with the variable of highest degree to lowest:
3z^2 - 12z + 9z - 36
Last of all, simplify coefficients with like terms and you're good to go:
3z^2 - 3z - 36
Hope this helps!

Otrada [13]

ANSWER:

6

STEP-BY-STEP EXPLANATION:

We have two toppings, the first is the ice cream container where there are two options and the second is the ice cream flavor where there are a total of three options.

Therefore, the number of possible ways to order ice cream would be:

\begin{gathered} p=2\cdot3 \\  \\ p=6 \end{gathered}

There are a total of 6 ways to order an ice cream

Consider the system of equations.
jok3333 [9.3K]

Given:

The system of equations:

x-3y=9

\dfrac{1}{5}x-2y=-1

To find:

The number that can be multiplied by the second equation to eliminate the x-variable when the equations are added together.

Solution:

We have,

x-3y=9                        ...(i)

\dfrac{1}{5}x-2y=-1       ...(ii)

The coefficient of x in (i) and (ii) are 1 and \dfrac{1}{5} respectively.

To eliminate the variable x by adding the equations, we need the coefficients of x as the additive inverse of each other, i.e, a and -a So, a+(-a)=0.

It means, we have to convert \dfrac{1}{5} into -1. It is possible if we multiply the equation (ii) by -5.

On multiplying equation (ii) by -5, we get

-x+10y=5       ...(iii)

On adding (i) and (iii), we get

7y=14

Here, x is eliminated.

Therefore, the number -5 can be multiplied by the second equation to eliminate the x-variable.

Basile [38]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 3x2 + 5x - 4 + 6x2 - x + 7

= combining like terms

= 9x2 + 4x + 3

2. 2y2 - 3y + 6 + y2 - 5y - 1 + (-4) + 2y2 - 2y

= 5y2 - 10y + 1

3. 2x2y - 3xy2 + x2y - 4x2y - 2xy2

= - x2y - 5xy2

4. x2 - y2 + 2x2 - 3xy + 4y2 + 3y2 - 5xy - x2

= 2x2 - 8xy + 6y2
