Tom Monaghan is a very religious man, who after selling the Domino's Pizza chain in 1998, founded a Catholic university in Florida (in 2003), named Ave Maria University. The twenty-fourth amendment which was proposed by Congress on 27th August 1962 and ratified by the most states on 23rd January 1964 was very significant act for the African-Americans. It gave them right to vote by eliminating poll taxes and thus gave them political rights and say in the formation of government. The amendment also established equality and ended discrimination with African-Americans.
