0.15 is bigger, cause the second digit after the decimal is bigger.  You would have to add another 0.025 to 0.125 to bring it up to 0.15

For each problem, identify any important quantities. If it's a known quantity, write the
Tema [17]

Answer:

We have the problem:

"Clare is in charge of getting snacks for a road trip with her friends and her dog. She has

$35 to go to the store to get some supplies. The snacks for herself and her friends cost

$3.25 each, and her dog's snacks costs $9 each."

In this situation we have two variables:

X =  number of snacks for herself and her friends that she buys. Each one of these costs $3.50

Y = number of snacks for her dog that she buys. Each one of these costs $9.

The total cost, in this case, can be written as:

X*$3.50 + Y*$9

And we know that she has $35 to spend, so she can spend $35 or less in the store, then we have the inequality:

X*$3.50 + Y*$9  ≤ $35

Where we defined all the quantities in the inequality.

Let x be the number of items.  Each takes 1/8 hour to purchase, so a total time of \frac 1 8 x.   If we have 3/4 hour, then

\frac 1 8 x = \frac 3 4

That's part a.

b. Multiplying by 8,

x = \frac 3 4 (8) = 6

c. We have time to by 6 items at 1/8 hour each in 3/4 hours.

A girl is flying a kite with a 120ft string attached to the ground is flying directly Selena’s head is standing 24 ft from where
SashulF [63]

Answer:

111.58 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the length of the string (AB in the attached diagram) is 120 feet.

Selena (at point D) is standing 24 feet from point A, where the kite is attached to the ground.

Since the kite is directly above Selena's head, the problem forms a right triangle.

Using Pythagoras theorem

|AB|^2=|BD|^2+|AD|^2\\120^2=|BD|^2+24^2\\|BD|^2=120^2-24^2\\|BD|^2=13824\\|BD|=\sqrt{13824} \\|BD|=117.58$ ft

Serena's height (CD=6 feet)

The distance of the kite above her head is BC in the drawn diagram.

Therefore:

|BD|=|BC|+|CD|

117.58=|BC|+6

|BC|=117.58-6

|BC|=111.58 feet

The kite is approximately 111.58 feet above Selena's head/
