Let the number be x.
3(x - 10) = 2x     | 10 less than x multiply be 3 equal 2 times x

3x - 30 = 2x        | Distribute 3

x - 30 = 0            | Subtract 2x from both sides

x = 30                 | Add 30 to both sides

Hello!

We know that

(x - 10) * 3 = 2x

Distribute the 3

3x - 30 = 2x

Subtract 2x from both sides

x - 30 = 0

Add 30 to both sides

x = 30

The answer is 30

Hope this helps!
