The falling action in this story by Jack London occurs in the last few paragraphs, after the man already surrenders and knows he is going to die. Because he knows he is going to die in any case he decides to at least die with and behave with dignity. Falling action refers to the part of the story after the climax and the resolution of the main conflict.

The falling action in Jack's ''To Build A Fire'' is seen within the last 2 to 3 paragraphs of the story.

Falling action is always that part of a story in which the main issue is resolved. After the climax in the story, falling action comes to place; always very close to the end of the story.

Further Explanation

Similarly, the falling action in Jack London's book, ''To Build A Fire,'' is shown in the last remaining paragraphs where a man surrenders to death, knowing fully well that he is going to die.

The journey began as the man began to move into the wilderness which has its temperature dropping to 75 degrees below zero. He set out with a dog by 10 am regardless of everyone waiting at the camp.

At a point, he realized that the cold was too much for him, and he decided to kill his dog so that he could use the dog's coat as a shield but the dog sensed danger and refused to yield to his call.

He tried to ensure circulation in all parts of his body, he stands and runs. But the circulation to his limbs was very poor, so poor that his blood reduces. After some time, he surrenders to death as he sits.

The fire is symbolic as it represents life and knowledge. Through the story, Jack teaches that everyone must listen constructively to others, and we should not think we can out-smart nature.

Read the excerpt from "The Crab That Played with the Sea.”
KIM [24]

Crab That Played With Sea is a book by Rudyard Kipling. The King Crab in the story likes to follow his own path and thinks highly of himself. Thus, option C is correct.

What is the idea of Crab That Played With Sea?

Kipling's Crab That Played With Sea is a story that explains the occurrence of the tides in the water to the children. It also entertains the audience and uses imagery and repetition.

Pau Amma was the King Crab that lived on the ocean though he was a king, he was nothing better and was laughed off by the eldest magician. Here the excerpt, suggests that he does not like to follow paths made by others and rather does things on his own.

He went to the sea so that he does not have to follow the orders of Adams like others and thought of being better than the others. Pau did not like to follow orders and commands and always does what he likes.

Therefore, option C. Pau likes to follow his own path.
