La paradoja en la democracia de Ecuador es que a pesar de que existe un sistema democrático muchos sectores no están representados dentro de la política, está paradoja podría ser superada si existe mayor participación política.

Una paradoja se refiere a una situación que resulta contradictoria o que no parece lógica. En la frase de José Mujica se explica una paradoja pues el manifiesta que a pesar de sus intentos fallidos por cambiar el mundo, el creyendo que vale la pena luchar, lo cuál es contradictorio.

De forma similar, la democracia de Ecuador tiene paradojas o es contradictoria. Una de las mayores contradicciones es que la democracia debe representar la voz del pueblo y sin embargo, muchos sectores no se siente representados.

En este sentido sectores como las comunidades LGBTI o los campesinos tienen poca participación política debido a la predominancia de sectores políticos tradicionales.
