Redox reaction is the chemical reaction in which both oxidation (loss of electrons) and reduction (gain of electrons) takes place or transfer of electrons between two species occurs.

The given chemical equation is :

Zn(s)+2HCl(aq)\rightarrow ZnCl_{2}(aq)+H_{2}(g)

Here, in reactant side, the oxidation state of zinc is zero (0), after reacting with hydrogen chloride, the oxidation sate of zinc becomes two (+2).  In this reaction, electrons are transferred from zinc atoms to the hydrogen atoms. Thus, zinc is oxidized by losing electrons.

Hence, oxidation state of zinc increases due to loses electrons i.e. Option (A) is correct.

What class of elements includes all of the elements that are gases at room temperature? nonmetals metals metalloids?
Novay_Z [31]
Metals have high density. They are always solids at room temperature.
Metalloids have intermediate density. They are generally solids at room temperature.
Non-metals have low density. They can be solids, liquids or gases at room temperature.

Based on this, the <span>class of elements that includes all of the elements that are gases at room temperature is the non-metals</span>

Write the net ionic equation for this precipitation reaction. Include physical states. ( NH 4 ) 2 CO 3 ( aq ) + Ca ( ClO 4 ) 2 (
Bad White [126]

Answer:

The net ionic equation:

Ca^{2+}(aq)+CO_{3}^{2-}(aq) \rightarrow CaCO_{3}(s)

Explanation:

The given chemical reaction is as follows.

(NH_{4})_{2}CO_{3}(aq)+Ca(ClO_{4})_{2}(aq) \rightarrow CaCO_{3}(s)+2NH_{4}ClO_{4}(aq)

The total ionic equation is as follows.

2NH_{4}^{+}(aq)+ CO_{3}^{2-}(aq)+Ca^{2+}(aq)+2ClO_{4}^{-}(aq) \rightarrow CaCO_{3}(s)+2NH_{4}^{+}(aq)+2ClO_{4}^{-}

Similar ions on the both sides of the reaction will be cancelled.

The remaining reaction is

Ca^{2+}(aq)+CO_{3}^{2-}(aq) \rightarrow CaCO_{3}(s)

Therefore, the net ionic reaction is as follows.

Ca^{2+}(aq)+CO_{3}^{2-}(aq) \rightarrow CaCO_{3}(s)
