Israel gain the most territory during the Six-Day War. This war was also called June War or the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. During this time, tensions between Israel, and Egypt, Jordan and Syria were heightened. Israel also launched preemptive airstrikes against Egyptian airfields.

I believe a majority of major battles happened in these places because the British had control of them at some point. New York also served as the British base of operations so they probably wanted to break Britain's hold on these cities.
