The symbol that would accurately feel this blank is ">" because when x=6, the equation on the left is equal to 48. An easy way to remember which sign to use is that the arrow points to the smaller number. Since the equation on the left equals 48, we know that 28 is the smaller number. Therefore, the arrow points to 28.

I need to solve for 3x+7=-x-1
Andrew [12]

3x+7=-x-1

move -x to the other side

sign changes from -x to +x

3x+x+7=-x+x-1

3x+x+7=-1

4x+7=-1

move 7 to the other side

sign changes from +7 to -7

4x+7-7=-1-7

4x=-8

Divide by 4 for both sides

4x/4=-8/4

Answer: x=-2

Determine whether the integral is convergent or divergent. ∫[infinity] 2 e^−1/x / x^2 dx : O Convergent O divergent If it is con
monitta

Let f(x)=e^{-1/x}. Then f'(x)=\frac1{x^2}e^{-1/x}>0 for all x\ge2, so f is strictly increasing. As x\to\infty, e^{-1/x}\to e^0=1, so f is bounded above by 1. This is to say,

e^{-1/x}

and the integral of \frac1{x^2} converges over the same domain, so this integral must also converge by comparison.

We have, by setting y=-\frac1x,

\displaystyle\int_2^\infty\frac{e^{-1/x}}{x^2}\,\mathrm dx=\int_{-1/2}^0e^y\,\mathrm dy=e^0-e^{-1/2}=1-\frac1{\sqrt e}
