Caitlin has 4 3/4 pounds of clay . She uses 1 1/10 pounds to make a cup ,and another 2 pounds to make a jar , how many pounds ar
Brut [27]
There are 33/20 or 1.65 pounds left.

Given:
4 3/4 pounds of clay
1 1/10 pounds of clay for a cup
2   pounds of clay for a jar

Convert the mixed fraction into fractions.
4 3/4 = (4*4+3)/4 = 19/4
1 1/10 = (1*10+1)/10 = 11/10
2 = 2/1

19/4 - 11/10 = (19/4 *5/5) - (11/10 * 2/2) = 95/20 - 22/20
= (95-22)/20 = 73/20 or 3.65 pounds after making a cup

73/20 - 2/1 = 73/20 - (2/1 * 20/20) = 73/20 - 40/20 = 73 - 40 / 20 = 33/20  OR 1.65 pounds left after making a jar.

We can also convert the fractions into decimal numbers.
19/4   = 4.75
11/10 = 1.10
2/1     = 2.00

4.75 - 1.1 - 2 = 1.65 pounds left.

Find the measure of the arc or angle indicated
MariettaO [177]
Short Answer: arc LM = 110°
Comment

Any two angles that have their end points on the same end points as a chord and both moving away in the same direction (in this case  down ) are equal. This is a fundamental fact about circles.

Equation
2x + 55 =  x + 55
the only way this is going to make any sense is if x = 0. No other value is possible because it will destroy the equality.

Conclusion
Both angles = 55

But that's not what you are asked for.

What you are asked for
You want to know the measure of arc LM.
The angle connecting the center of the circle with its two arms running through the end points of the chord = the measure of  arc LM

Draw a dot where the center of the circle is and call it O. Draw in <MOL
<MOL = 2* either of the 55° = 2 (<LKM)  = 2 * 55 = 110° That's a property of the central angle.

The measure of arc LM = 110°

If you know the names of the remaining eight eight students in the spelling bee, what is the probability of randomly selecting
STALIN [3.7K]
Assuming that there are 8 names that are going to be used for a random order;

First, let's try to figure out how many possible ways the names can be arrange:

=8 choices x 7 choice x 6 choices x 5 ... x 1 choice (if you select person A to go first, they cannot be second as well, so that is why 8 choices is multiplied by 7 instead of 8)

This can also be written as 8!

The specific way that a random set of names is chosen by you and actually chosen is 1. Each name has a specific order, in each term so there can only be one possible way.

Therefore, P(order being chosen)=1/8!

Hope I helped :)
