Every function associates input values with output values. The domain of a function is the set of all the inputs the function accepts.

You will basically always find your function graphed with the inputs on the horizontal axis and the outputs on the vertical axis. This means that every point on the graph has coordinates (x,f(x)), and the domain is the set of all the x values.

The points on your red line have all coordinates (d,70), where d starts from 0 and ranges up to 12. So, the domain of the function is [0,12]

Select the correct answer from each drop-down menu.
kifflom [539]

Answer:

  1. 0.83
  2. 0.9
  3. steeper than
  4. slower than

Step-by-step explanation:

Letting t=1 in Ted's equation, we find that he climbs 5/6 stairs in 1 second. As a decimal, 5/6 ≈ 0.83.

Michael climbs 9 stairs in 10 seconds so his rate is ...

... (9 stairs)/(10 seconds) = (9/10) stairs/second = 0.9 stairs/second

Michael's graph will be a line with a slope of 0.9; Ted's graph will be a line with a slope of about 0.83, so the line on Michael's graph is steeper.

Ted climbs fewer stairs per second, so his rate is slower than Michael's.

_____

<em>Comment on the problem</em>

You're being asked to compare two different rates that are associated with two different people. First the comparison is one way, then it is the other way. This can be confusing. It might be helpful to draw and label a simple chart to help you keep it straight. (The attachment is such a chart scribbled on a bit of scratch paper. It is sufficient for the purpose.)

The sum of three consecutive even integers is -78, what are the integers ?
Digiron [165]
First, you need to analize and understand the problem, then you must choose and strategy. There is a wide variety of strategies to solve a mathematical problem, in this case, you can use the following, which is based on the information given above:
 1. You have that t<span>he sum of three consecutive even integers is </span>-78<span>, therefore, you can given the variable </span>x&#10;<span> to the first integer, the second even integer is </span>x+2<span> and the third one is </span>x+4&#10;<span>.
 2. Calculate x:
 </span>x+(x+2)+(x+4)=-78<span>
 </span>3x+6=-78
<span> </span>x=-28&#10;<span>
 </span>x+2=-28+2=-26&#10;<span>
 </span>x+4=-28+4=-24&#10;<span>
 Therefore, the answer is:</span>-28,-26,-24&#10;

A cargo truck weighs 8750 lb the weight limit for a certain bridge is 5 tons how many pounds of cargo can be added to the truck
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

1,250 lbs

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 2,000 in 1 ton, so 5 * 2,000 = 10,000 lbs weight limit for the bridge.

10,000-8750 = 1,250 lbs can be added to the truck  before they reach the bridge weight limit.
