Even though scorpions are related to spiders, there are many differences between the two organisms. One difference is that scorp

ion young do not hatch from eggs as spiders do. Scorpions are born live, two at a time, and they immediately crawl onto the mother's back for protection and care. They remain there for 2 weeks as they grow big enough to take care of themselves.
As baby scorpions grow larger, which process occurs in their body (somatic) cells?

a. Mitosis separates one cell into four cells.
b. Meiosis produces all of the new body cells.
c. Meiosis splits the chromosome numbers by four.
d. Mitosis makes copies of the cell nuclei.

The answer would be d because in order for a living thing to grow the cell has to split apart and to split apart it has to make copies of itself.

Answer:

The correct answer would be d. Mitosis makes copies of the cell nuclei.

Mitosis is a cell division in which one cell separates to form two daughter cells, each having an identical genome as of the parent cell.

Before mitosis, the cell replicates its DNA or genetic material, so that equal amount of genetic material can be distributed into the two daughter cells.

By the end of mitosis, two nuclei are formed in a cell which is followed by cytokinesis. Cytokinesis results in the formation of two daughter cells.

These cells then grow in size and divide again which helps in the growth and repair of tissues in multi-cellular organisms.

Which would be a consequence of the removal of predators from a population such as the Trinidadian guppy population?a .The nitro
natulia [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is option b. "Guppy color patterns would change; guppies would produce fewer but larger offspring; the nitrogen excretion rate would increase and the rate of growth of primary producers such as algae would increase".

Explanation:

The Trinidadian guppy is a species of fish with the scientific name Poecilia reticulata. Just like almost all species, its population is regulated for multiple factors, one of them being the presence of predators. The removal of Trinidadian guppy predators would result in multiple consequences:

- Guppy color patterns would change. The fish have a complex coloration determined largely by predation avoidance.

- Guppies would produce fewer but larger offspring. This adaptation has been proved in an experiment at which the fish was introduced one a low predation environment. The report proved that evolution can take place in less than 10 years.

- The nitrogen excretion rate would increase. It has been reported that predation reduce Trinidadian guppy nitrogen excretion by 40%. Removing the predators will case the nitrogen excretion rate to increase due to an increase in the fish food intake.

- The rate of growth of primary producers such as algae would increase. This is an effect of the increase of nitrogen excretion rate, which benefits algae population to growth.
