Find the area of the shaded regions. Give your answer as a completely simplified exact value in terms of π (no approximations).
masya89 [10]

Answer:

40\pi \ m^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The area of a circle is equal to

A=\pi r^{2}

In this problem we have

r=10\ m

Substitute and find the area

A=\pi (10)^{2}=100 \pi\ m^{2}

Remember that

360\° subtends the area of complete circle

so

by proportion

Find the area of the shaded regions

The central angle of the shaded regions is equal to 2*72\°=144\°

\frac{100\pi }{360} \frac{m^{2}}{degrees} =\frac{x }{144} \frac{m^{2}}{degrees} \\ \\x=144*100\pi /360\\ \\ x=40\pi \ m^{2}

Planes Q and R are parallel. Explain how you know lines a and b are skew.
IrinaVladis [17]
By definition, skew lines are a pair of lines that are not parallel but do not intersect each other either. Hence, the conclusion would be, the lines are non-coplanar. An example would two random lines drawn in the x and y axes in a cartesian plane, respectively.

Solve:<br> -3/4+p=1/2<br> Thank you so much!
shepuryov [24]

-3 / 4 + p = 1/2

LCD 4 and 2 = 4

Multiply by LCD = 4

p. (4)- 3/4 .( 4 ) = 1/2.(4)

4 p - 3 = 2

Add 3 to both sides:

4 p - 3 + 3 = 2 + 3

4 p = 5

Divide both sides by 4 :

4p / 4 =  5 /4

p = 5/4

How do you solve for the central area of a polygon?
ycow [4]
Getting the central area of a polygon is not possible. Probably the question refers to the central angle. In a a regular polygon, getting the central angle is that you need to use the formula.

Central Angle of a polygon = 360 degrees / number of sides of a polygon.
Why 360 degrees? Because, a circle has a total of 360 degrees. And a circle is a polygon with no sides.
