A sales team estimates that the number of new phones they will sell is a function of the price that they set. They estimate that

if they set the price at x dollars, they will sell f(x)=4564−7x phones. Therefore, the company's revenue is x⋅(4564−7x). Find the price, x, which will maximize the company's revenue.

Answer:

$2282

Step-by-step explanation:

ƒ(x) = x(4564-x) = 4564x - x²

In standard form,

ƒ(x) = -x² + 4564x

a = -1; b = 4564; c = 0

This is the equation of an inverted parabola, because a < 0. Therefore, the vertex is a maximum.

The vertex of a parabola occurs at

x = -b/(2a) = -4564/[-2 × (-1)] = -4564/(-2) = 2282.

The price that will maximize the company's revenue is $2282.

The graph below shows that the company's maximum revenue is over $5.2 million.

Fraction of the shape shaded on these two shapes??
xxTIMURxx [149]
The one of the left isn't too tricky, in the bottom left of it you have 1/2 of 1/4 of the shape, and on the bottom right you have 1/4 of 1/4. Imagine the whole shape was cut up like that bottom right bit into 16 triangles, then you would have three of them shaded (see my diagram).

The one on the right seems like guesswork to me, so I'm sorry if I'm wrong. It look like you just have to use your eyes to work out how much of the bottom half of the shape is shaded: looks like 1/16 to me (i.e. you can draw four of those along and four down, again, see my diagram.) So plus the top half, which is 8/16, you get 9/16.

Answers: left picture: 3/16.

Question 11 (5 points)
KATRIN_1 [288]

Answer:

Yes

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitute the x value in the ordered pair for the x in the equation, or 2, and the y-value (6) in for y. So, 2 + 6 = 8, and this is true. Then do 3(2) - 6 = 0, which is also true.
