 Because this equation is in the slope-intercept formy=mx+b. 0=5x−13. 0+13=5x−13+13. 13=5x−0. 13=5x.

Intercepts can either be an x-intercept or a y-intercept. Both intercepts can be determined by simply setting the other variable to be zero. For instance, to obtain the x-intercept, we must  equate the y value of the equation to zero and vice versa. 

x-intercept: Setting y=0
y=5x-13
0=5x-13
5x=13
x=13/5
y-intercept: Setting x=0
y=5x-13
y=5(0)-13
y=-13

Therefore, the intercepts are y=-13 and x=13/5 or (0,-13) and (13/5 ,0) in point form.
